How to play Memory Pairs

Try Memory Pairs at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Look at what changes after your first action.

Make the controls familiar

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Start with a deliberate move.

Step by step

  1. Turn over any face-down card.
  2. Choose a second card. Equal symbols stay visible.
  3. Unequal cards turn back after a short pause.
  4. Continue until every pair is visible.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

A useful example

Seeing a star at the top left and another star in the bottom row gives you a matching pair on a later turn. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Consider the next action carefully.

Watch out for this

You cannot turn a third card while a mismatched pair is still being shown. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
