How to play Reaction Challenge

Reaction Challenge gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Try a deliberate move

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Notice how the game responds to your input.

Step by step

  1. Start a round and wait without clicking.
  2. When GO appears, click or tap the large target.
  3. Read your response time and start the next round.
  4. After five rounds, the game shows the mean time.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

A useful example

A valid 250 ms response counts. Clicking during WAIT is too early and must be repeated. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Verify the rule before continuing.

Watch out for this

Browser scheduling, screen refresh and input hardware can affect the measurement. It is not a medical test. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
